Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) reported that an Israeli drone flew at low altitude over the Lebanese capital, alongside another unmanned aircraft that flew over Beirut’s southern suburbs.
The source added that the Israeli army shelled the town of Deir Siryan, in the Nabatieh district in the country’s south, without specifying—as of yet—any potential damage or casualties.
On June 26, Lebanon and Israel signed a framework agreement under U.S. auspices stipulating a gradual Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory, beginning with two pilot zones.
However, the document did not establish a clear timeline for the withdrawal from those two zones or from the rest of Lebanese territory.
The agreement also linked the Israeli withdrawal to the Lebanese Army assuming full security responsibility in the evacuated areas, as well as to the disarmament of non-state armed groups—a clear reference to Hezbollah. The text, released by the NNA and cited by the U.S. news outlet Axios, includes a statement from Lebanon and Israel regarding their determination to definitively end the conflict, address its root causes, and formally terminate any existing state of war between the two parties.
