“Latvia’s provocative plans to build a drone production plant on the border with Russia, jointly with Ukraine, fit perfectly into the consistently hostile line that the Baltic republics maintain toward our country,” the diplomat said in an interview with the Sputnik news agency.
Galuzin also pointed out that the Baltic countries are pursuing selfish objectives: “to actively intervene in the execution of defense budgets in the process of militarization of the European Union, as well as to attribute to themselves a geopolitical relevance that equates them to a supposed key element of the eastern flank of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.”
In late June, Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs announced plans to establish a joint venture with Ukraine to produce drones in the border region with Russia and Belarus.
He stated that the location was chosen to bolster anti-drone operations and rapidly deploy interceptor drones.
