Moscow, Jul 4 (Prensa Latina) Alexander Beglov, the governor of St. Petersburg—Russia's second-largest city—reported that the metropolis was targeted by a massive attack involving Ukrainian combat drones.

“This Saturday, July 4, St. Petersburg was subjected to a massive attack by military-grade drones. Air defense systems are currently in operation,” said Beglov, as quoted by his press service.

The city’s operations center advised residents to stay indoors and avoid going outside until the drone threat alert is lifted.

It also warned that mobile internet service disruptions could occur while the response to the situation is ongoing.

Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that 389 fixed-wing Ukrainian drones had been shot down over the past day across various regions in the European part of the country.

The ministry specified that interceptions took place in the regions of Belgorod, Bryansk, Kaluga, Krasnodar, Kursk, Leningrad, Lipetsk, Moscow, Novgorod, Oryol, Pskov, Ryazan, Rostov, Saratov, Smolensk, Tula, Tver, and Vladimir, as well as in the Republic of Crimea and over the Black Sea and Azov Sea.

Meanwhile, the national air transport agency, Rosaviatsia, reported the temporary closure of the Ivanovo and Pskov airports over the past day for security reasons.
