Kim, who is also the General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) and Chairman of the CMC, stressed that the country’s security and lasting peace depend on building a powerful military capable of deterring threats and ensuring the defense of socialism.
Kim stated the need of modernazing the armed forces, strengthening combat readiness, and expanding nuclear and naval capabilities.
The DPRK leader personally signed seven military orders establishing strategic measures to strengthen technical infrastructure, military education, and intelligence capabilities.
KCNA reported that the decisions made aim to advance the WPK policy of making the Korean People’s Army (KPA) an invincible and central force in the defense and comprehensive development of the nation.
Changes to the KPA’s command structure were also addressed during the session.
