A union of voices, music, and a spirit of brotherhood in an unmissable tribute is the call from the Mexican Embassy in Cuba for this competition, which is being organized in conjunction with the Benito Juarez House in Havana’s historic center and the Center for Mexican Studies.

Under the title “Serenade to Mexico,” all fans of Juan Gabriel’s music and Mexican ranchera music can participate in two performance categories, according to a press release.

The competition will have three phases: the call for entries, open from July 20 to August 15; preliminary auditions, to be held from August 18 to 21 at the Benito Juárez House; and the grand final on September 15.

Those interested must register via the online link provided in the call for entries, the text emphasizes.

The Ministry of Culture and the Cuban Institute of Music are jointly sponsoring this competition, which will celebrate the 216th anniversary of Mexico’s Independence on this Caribbean island.
