On the same digital platform, Cuba’s National Assembly of People’s Power (Parliament) also sent greetings to the Nicaraguan people, while reaffirming its commitment to continue strengthening inter-parliamentary ties.
Meanwhile, the island’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent congratulations via its official Facebook page to the top officials of the Sandinista Executive, stating, “Today we commemorate their legacy of struggle and dignity.”
On July 19, 1979, the last armed revolution in Latin America and the Caribbean—following the Mexican (1910) and Cuban (1959) revolutions—triumphed in Nicaragua; its primary objective was to empower the people and eradicate poverty at its roots.
