Myanmar inaugurates its embassy in Nicaragua

Managua, Jul 29 (Prensa Latina) Myanmar inaugurated its embassy in Nicaragua during a ceremony where officials from both countries highlighted the strengthening of diplomatic relations and the expansion of bilateral cooperation across various sectors.

Myanmar’s ambassador to the country, U Htun Aung Kyaw, stated that both nations share common values and challenges, despite the geographical distance.

The diplomat added that he is confident both countries—as free and independent states—will deepen cooperation based on mutual respect and shared interests for the benefit of their peoples.

The ambassador also remembered his participation in the celebrations marking the 47th anniversary of the triumph of the Sandinista Popular Revolution on July 19, noting that he witnessed the atmosphere of peace, freedom, and sovereignty enjoyed by the Central American nation.

For his part, Laureano Ortega, Presidential Advisor for the Promotion of Investment, Trade, and International Cooperation, noted that Nicaragua and Myanmar share a history of defending their sovereignty and independence against attempts at foreign domination.

He also expressed the Sandinista government’s willingness to strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas such as agriculture, industry, energy, mining, manufacturing, and tourism.

Nicaraguan Co-Foreign Minister Valdrack Jaentschke stated that the opening of the diplomatic mission shows the commitment of both governments to consolidating their ties of friendship and cooperation.
