In a statement released on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the Day of the National Rebellion, the group reaffirmed its solidarity with the homeland of José Martí, Cuban national hero, and denounced the intensification of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by Washington.
The anniversary commemorates the gallantry of the young people who, led by Fidel Castro, stormed into the eastern Moncada barracks in Santiago de Cuba and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes in Bayamo, heavily guarded by members of the tyranny of Fulgencio Batista.
This fact of arms transcends to our days as a symbol of the resistance of the Caribbean nation against the appetite for domination of the American power, which seeks planetary dominance through illegal wars and policies of economic asphyxiation, the note specifies.
Likewise, the solidarity movement emphasized that the central activities for July 26 precede the celebration in Cuba of the centenary of Fidel Castro Ruz’ birth, leader, conductor and companion of all the historical gestures of the Revolution.
