At the Palace of Fine Arts, the group captivated the audience with its artistic excellence, powerful performance, and the richness of the Caribbean nation’s cultural traditions during the opening of the event, which was organized by the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL).
As reported by the diplomatic mission on the social network X, the performance received a long standing ovation from the audience, who acknowledged the virtuosity of one of the ensembles that best represents Cuban culture.
This is not the first time the company has performed in Mexico—a country with which it maintains close cultural exchange ties and where it has always been received with enthusiasm.
Following the performance, representatives from the embassy, led by Ambassador Eugenio Martinez, held a cordial meeting with members of the ensemble.
During the gathering, the group’s director, Leivan Garcia, presented Alonso Alarcón—INBAL’s Director of Dance—with “the Oche,” a symbol of the Cuban company’s identity.
“The participation of Cuba’s National Folkloric Ensemble in the Black Dance Festival serves as further proof of the vitality of Cuban culture and the solid bonds of friendship and cultural cooperation uniting Cuba and Mexico,” the embassy noted.
