Cubans in Nicaragua reaffirm commitment to Fidel Castro’s legacy

Managua, Aug 15 (Prensa Latina) The patriotic community of Cubans residing in Nicaragua reaffirmed their commitment to the political and revolutionary legacy of Fidel Castro, and highlighted the resilience of the Cuban people in the face of external pressures.

In a statement shared on social media, members of the Antonio Maceo community indicated that they see the centennial of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution as an opportunity to keep his thought and example alive, inspired also by the ideals of National Hero Jose Marti.

The document remembers the attack on the Moncada Barracks in 1953 and upholds that new generations have the commitment to preserve Marti’s ideas and Fidel’s legacy.

The Cubans residing in Nicaragua also denounced what they called the “genocidal blockade” imposed by the United States on Cuba, in addition to sanctions, financial persecution, and restrictions that affect the island’s supply, fuel, and energy system.

“We have endured 67 years of resistance, and there will be no surrender,” the statement declared, asserting that Cuba will maintain its sovereignty and will not yield to external pressure.

From Nicaragua, the Antonio Maceo Patriotic Community also reaffirmed its commitment to continue the struggle to denounce the blockade and express solidarity with the Cuban people in the face of any threat.

The text concludes with a call for unity among generations and reaffirms the principles of solidarity, national sovereignty, and fidelity to the thought of Fidel Castro.
