Spanning the period from 1951 to 2024, the nine volumes of the *Selected Works of Raul Castro* summarize 70 years of struggle, explained officials from the institution leading the project, which was published by Ediciones Celia.
The titles are available at the 34th Havana International Book Fair.
“We cross-referenced all the documentation housed in his offices at the Palace of the Revolution with the materials in our own archives,” added Jorge Aneiros during the event held in the Nicolas Guillen Hall at Linea and 18 Cultural Station.
“It serves as an ethical guide and a roadmap for struggle for Cuban revolutionaries,” emphasized Daily Sánchez, deputy director of the Office of Historical Affairs.
Featuring a foreword by Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, the collection compiles not only speeches by the brother of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro but also personal and official letters, interviews granted to Cuban and foreign journalists, and full transcripts of remarks made at various significant events.
“The work of the Army General reaffirms for us today the value of the bold, revolutionary, steadfast, and sensitive warrior who has dedicated his life—as he himself wrote—to the most beautiful of endeavors,” noted the Cuban leader in the first of the nine volumes.
Featuring embossed titles, the cover designs vary, as the photograph of the subject corresponds to the specific historical era covered by each volume; additionally, the creators included a tenth book—a booklet containing a summary of the entire collection.
Officials from the Office of Historical Affairs revealed to those present that Raul Castro himself contributed his insights during the production process and viewed the printed result—something that brought “great satisfaction” to the team.
For Deputy Director Daily Sanchez, “the greatest impact on readers lies in getting to know the human side of Raul—a side rarely seen, yet one that the enemy constantly tries to portray to our youth as rigid and cruel.”
