The Chief of the National District Fire Department, Jose Luis Frometa Herasme, explained that one of the bodies was found inside an SUV and the other next to the truck that was transporting the fuel.
He stated that authorities are working to recover and identify the bodies, noting that, preliminarily, the victims appear to be the driver of the tanker and the driver of one of the SUVs involved.
At least 12 fire department units responded to the scene to extinguish the fire, while emergency crews sprayed foam in various areas to prevent the flames from spreading.
One person was injured and remained conscious inside an ambulance at the scene.
Authorities do not yet know the cause of the incident and are also working to identify the company that owns the tanker truck involved.
