The event, attended by Qiu Xiaoqi, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Latin American and Caribbean affairs, alongside officials, diplomats, former ambassadors to Cuba, and representatives of Chinese entities and companies, took place at the China-Latin America Cultural Exchange Center.
Cuban Ambassador to China Alberto Blanco Silva remembered that Cuba was the first country in the Western Hemisphere to establish diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China on September 28, 1960, reaffirming the country’s steadfast commitment to the one-China principle.
Blanco Silva noted that, despite changes in the international landscape, both countries maintain a special relationship rooted in political trust, solidarity, and the defense of their respective social projects.
The ambassador also highlighted China’s role as one of Cuba’s key friends and expressed gratitude for China’s assistance in food and energy security, as well as for the continued direct flights between the two nations.
Blanco Silva reiterated Cuba’s rejection of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States and its inclusion in Washington’s State Sponsors of Terrorism (SSOT) list.
