Writing on his X account, the Caribbean nation’s Foreign Minister highlighted these threats to global stability on the occasion of the International Day of Peace.

  Rodruguez substantiated his warning by denouncing “aggressive US policy [that] foments wars, promotes the arms race, and seeks the usurpation of resources and sovereign territories.”

  This, the head of Cuban diplomacy stated, violates international law, undermines multilateralism, and threatens the future of humanity.

  Preserving international peace and security will be possible through the construction of a new international order—democratic, just, and inclusive—”that confronts the imperialist philosophy of plunder and war,” the Caribbean nation’s foreign minister noted.

  The International Day of Peace was proclaimed by the United Nations in 1981 and reaffirmed in 2001 as a day of ceasefire and non-violence.

  It also champions the power of global solidarity to build a peaceful and sustainable world.

  For 2026, the observance promotes the concept: “Invest in peace: for everyone, everywhere, and every day.”
