has expressed its support for Cuba, backing the island’s resolution at the United Nations that calls for an end to the blockade imposed by the United States.
Julciane Anzilaglo, a member of the organization, defended the Caribbean nation’s right to determine its own destiny, free from interference or measures that hinder its development.
She cautioned that no people should have their development prospects or well-being compromised by policies that restrict access to essential resources—such as food, medicine, and energy, among others.
Anzilaglo also voiced concern regarding reports from the Cuban government that the United States is pressuring other nations to alter their positions ahead of the UN General Assembly vote on the blockade.
Her statements join a broader wave of support for Cuba from Brazilian solidarity organizations, which have rejected unilateral coercive measures and called for respect for the sovereignty of the Caribbean nation.
The resolution against the blockade is an initiative that Cuba presents annually to the United Nations General Assembly, where it has consistently received overwhelming international support. This year, the resolution will be considered on October 27 and 28.
