Havana, Oct 31 (Prensa Latina) Cuba is commemorating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Local Organs of People’s Power with a discussion session involving delegates, presidents of People’s Councils, and Municipal Assemblies.

During the meeting, community leaders shared their experiences regarding community transformation, the “My Neighborhood for the Homeland” (*Mi Barrio por la Patria*) movement, the implementation of economic and social reforms, and integrated community work, the National Assembly of People’s Power (ANPP) reported on its X account.

The meeting was led by the president of the ANPP, Esteban Lazo; Prime Minister Manuel Marrero; and the Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Roberto Morales.

On his X account, the Cuban Prime Minister extended his congratulations to the members of the Municipal Assemblies of People’s Power, highlighting their dedication and commitment to the people.

“We commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Municipal Assemblies of #People’sPower. A special congratulations to the delegates and the staff of these municipal bodies. Thank you for your ongoing dedication to your constituents and the community,” Lazo wrote on X.

The creation of the Local Organs of People’s Power on October 31, 1976, served to institutionalize the principle that power originates from the people and is exercised from the grassroots level.
