The war-torn country’s diplomatic mission noted that it will continue to represent the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in India and not the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan established by the Taliban, Deccan Herald newspaper reported.
Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Sri Lanka Ashraf Haidari also criticized the Taliban Government in Kabul.
Haidari pointed out in a tweet from Colombo that the new Afghan cabinet led by people under the United Nations sanctions, driven by the clerics, included no women and only represents one ethnic community out of 55 in Afghanistan.
The Taliban announced a caretaker government exclusively consisted of its own members and close associates, and excluded women and other political factions from holding any office, Al Jazeera reported.
The composition of the new Afghan Government has been criticized due to the absence of women and the low ethnic representation, as many of the acting and assistant ministers are Pashtuns, despite the promises of an inclusive cabinet.
Islamic fundamentalists retook power after defeating the 20-year US-led military occupation, which left the Central Asian nation with 11 million refugees outside the country, five million Afghans internally displaced and 250,000 civilians dead.
