Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian made these statements in response to the United States and “a malicious campaign against China that seeks to discredit its relations with Caribbean countries.”
According to Lin, the statements made by Secretary of State Marco Rubio during his recent meetings with regional leaders reflect an ideological bias and a lack of knowledge of the basic rules governing international relations.
The spokesperson emphasized that the Caribbean nations “do not need any country to act as a moralistic tutor.”
He also underscored that relations between China and Caribbean countries respond to common interests and mutual benefits.
He stated, “Washington’s actions aimed at denigrating this cooperation will not succeed in weakening it, as they are based on real facts and backed by tangible results.”
The Chinese Foreign Ministry previously emphasized that the economic and trade cooperation with Latin America and the Caribbean does not seek geopolitical competition or establish zones of influence.
