“Gaza needs large-scale aid,” the agency stated on X. “The flow of supplies must be allowed without hindrance or interruption,” it added.
UNRWA noted that one of its warehouses in Amman, Jordan, just a three-hour drive from the Strip, has enough supplies for 200,000 Gazans for a month, but Israel refuses to allow them in. “Flour, food packages, hygiene kits, blankets, and medical supplies are ready to be delivered,” it emphasized.
In another message on X, UNRWA stressed that it faces a serious funding crisis, noting that the agency is “the largest humanitarian actor supporting millions of Palestinian refugees.”
The agency reported this week that six of its 22 health centers in the Strip are barely functioning as a result of the Israeli aggression.
UNRWA spokesperson Juliette Touma called for an end to the Israeli blockade of the territory. “We cannot waste any more time on debates and plans,” she said in an interview with the British BBC. “Children are dying of hunger in the Gaza Strip; there is no need to reinvent the wheel,” she stressed.
