The most affected state is Niger, where 50 houses have been completely submerged by the waters and rescuers are looking for 10 missing people, the local news agency NAM said Friday.
According to official sources, a heavy downpour also hit the city of Okrika, in southern Nigeria, causing floods and landslides that buried houses and swept away people.
The floods, which began earlier this week, and officials from the National Emergency Management Agency (Nema) in Niger state, said the Mokwa area was affected there, where emergency services have managed to rescue three people, including two children.
Nigeria suffers continuous flooding due to seasonal rains, and the poor state of the drainage systems makes the floods more catastrophic, leaving numerous fatalities and material and economic damage.
