Ethiopia reaffirmed commitment to peace efforts in Sudan

Addis Ababa, Jun 2 (Prensa Latina) Ethiopia reaffirmed its strong support for Sudan's efforts to achieve peace and stability, during the visit of a high-level local delegation to that neighboring country, Fana Broadcasting Corporate (FBC) informed on Monday.

The entourage led by Redwan Hussein, Director General of the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS), met with General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, president of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), in Port Sudan.

During the meeting, Hussein and Getachew Reda, the Prime Minister’s advisor for East African Affairs, delivered General Al-Burhan a message from Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

After the talks, the NISS director general emphasized that Addis Ababa stands in solidarity with the Sudanese people and remains as a committed ally on their path to lasting peace.

The clashes in Sudan erupted on April 15, 2023, due to contradictions amidst a process of integrating the RSF (Rapid Support Forces) led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, vice-president of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, into the Armed Forces, and al-Burhan.
