Arab League urges world to end Israel’s occupation of Palestine

Ramallah, Jun 5 (Prensa Latina) The Arab League called on the world to take urgent measures to end the Israeli occupation of Palestine and allow the Palestinian people to exercise their right to independence and self-determination.

The Arab League called for the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with several UN Security Council resolutions, on the occasion of the 58th anniversary of the start of the Six-Day War.

“This date confirms the urgent need to implement the resolutions of the General Assembly and the United Nations Security Council maintain international peace and security,” the League emphasized, calling on Israel to “stop its war of extermination and end the suffering of the Palestinian people.”

The organization demanded the opening of all border crossings in the Gaza Strip to allow the entry of humanitarian aid into the territory, where more than two million people have been under fire since October 2023.

The Arab League recalled that the Six-Day War was won by Israel who occupied the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip, as well as the Golan Heights (Syria) and the Sinai Peninsula (Egypt). “The flagrant Israeli aggression had tragic and catastrophic repercussions, the aftermath of which continues to this day,” it emphasized.

The statement also accused Israel of intensifying “the war of extermination against the Palestinian people” and denounced the continued violations and crimes committed by Benjamin Netanyahu’s government in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. “The far-right Israeli authorities continue to assert their control and consolidate their illegal occupation of Palestinian territory and insist on ignoring and violating the norms of international law,” it stressed.
