Russia approves strategy for the development of its Navy until 2050

Moscow, Jun 9 (Prensa Latina) The president of the Russian Naval Collegium and assistant to the head of state for naval affairs, Nikolai Patrushev, announced the approval of a strategic plan for the development of the Russian Navy until 2050, taking into account the experience of the Special Military Operation in Ukraine.

The document contains an analysis of the global political and military situation, an assessment of the risks of armed conflicts, and the potential of other major fleets.

Patrushev specified in an interview with the newspaper Argumenti i Fakti that the decision to prepare a new strategy was made last summer, the Ministry of Defense developed the project, and the Naval Collegium participated in its finalization with the participation of federal agencies.

The final version was presented to President Vladimir Putin, who approved it on May 30, according to Patrushev, who added that this is the first strategic document of its kind in modern Russian history.

He added that the adoption of the strategy emphasizes the priority of developing a modern and powerful fleet, and Russia’s position as one of the world’s leading maritime powers is gradually recovering.

It is worth noting that at a meeting on the development of the Navy, Putin stated that Russia pays great attention to improving the Navy and called for modernizing the image of this branch of the Armed Forces. He also announced a large-scale program for the modernization of the Navy, which includes the construction of new ships and submarines.
