The Belgian monarchs will pay tribute to General Bernardo O’Higgins in Plaza de la Ciudadania and then go to La Moneda Palace, where they will receive honors from the Presidential Escort Regiment “Grenadier” and the Palace Guard.
The Presidency informed that during the meeting with Boric, the royal couple will discuss several issues of bilateral cooperation, such as energy transition, sustainable trade, the Advanced Framework Agreement between Chile and the European Union (EU), and current global challenges.
The Belgian king and queen will also meet with the presidents of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies and participate in a business forum.
King Felipe and Queen Mathilde will travel on Wednesday to the Antofagasta region, home to ESO’s Paranal Observatory, one of the world’s leading astronomical centers, where Belgium is participating in projects such as the Speculoos telescope and the Very Large Telescope (VLT), currently under construction.
Belgium is this country’s eighth-largest foreign investor in sectors such as construction, food, mining, energy, and chemicals.
