An information published by the National Institute of Statistics (Istat), indicates that sales of food products decreased in that period by 0.9 percent in value and 1.2 percentage points in volume, but stable figures were maintained in non-food products.
In the March to May 2025 quarter, retail sales decreased by 0.1 percentage point in value and 0.5 percent in volume relative to the previous three months.
Sales of food products increased 0.4 percent in value and decreased by the same percentage in volume while, in the case of non-food, there was a decline in both value and volume of 0.3 and 0.6 percentage points, respectively.
In terms of trend, retail sales in May 2025 registered a positive variation of 1.3 percent in value and a decrease of 0.3 percentage points in volume.
