Sponsored by Letras Cubanas Publishing House, the event feature Neyda Izquierdo — National Publishing Prize winner and lifelong companion of the author of Las quince mil vidas del caminante (The Fifteen Thousand Lives of the Wanderer) — journalist, poet, and filmmaker Victor Casaus, and researcher Pablo Vargas Guast. With the goal of discussing the life and work of one of the essential figures of Cuban culture of the last century, the event was also hosted by journalist and critic Fernando Rodriguez Sosa.
For the occasion, attendees will have free digital access to the novel Encicloferia (Empty Hands) by the renowned author, and to the booklet “Homage Posthumous to Luis Rogelio Nogueras” by Pablo Vargas Guast, both published by Letras Cubanas.
Other titles by and about Wichy Nogueras — published by Letras Cubanas and Ediciones La Memoria — will also be available for purchase, as well as listening to poems from the writer, according to the ICL press release.
Luis Rogelio Nogueras (Wichy) (Havana, November 17, 1944 – July 6, 1985) has an broad bibliography that includes, among other titles, the poetry collection Cabeza de Carrot (Carrot Head) (1967), winner of the David Prize, and the detective novel Y si muero mañana (And if I Die Tomorrow) (1977), winner of the Cirilo Villaverde Novel Prize from UNEAC (Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba).
