During the recent ruling party primary elections on June 29, for the first time, a candidate from the PCCh, in this case Jeannette Jara, was elected as the candidate of the left, progressivism, and social democracy in the elections for the La Moneda Palace.
In addition to Jara, the three candidates who competed with her, Carolina Toha of the Socialismo Democratico (Democratic Socialism coalition), Gonzalo Winter of the Frente Amplio (Broad Front), and Jaime Mulet of the Federacion Regionalista Verde Social (Green Social Regionalist Federation), are invited to this Sunday’s event at the Caupolican Theater.

The leadership of the ruling party, as well as social and union leaders, are also expected to be present.
El Siglo newspaper informed that the PCCh will present its candidacies to the National Congress at the ceremony, as agreed upon by the organization’s Central Committee.
Around 100 members of the Young Communists will join the ranks of the PCCh, and individuals who have completed 50 years of membership will be awarded the Elias Laferte medal.
Communist Party President Lautaro Carmona affirmed last week that Jara may announce the temporary suspension of her membership to face the November election campaign as a candidate for the entire ruling coalition and other sectors.
Carmona stated the importance of further expanding the Unidad por Chile (Unity for Chile) party alliance to defeat the right in the upcoming elections.
