All actions were blocked by a security tool that protects websites and internal systems. Additionally, since January, 280,000 alerts of suspicious behavior, such as repeated attempts to guess passwords (brute force attacks) and the presence of viruses or malicious code (malware), have been recorded; these actions were also neutralized.
Last year, the Supreme Court issued a public call to hire a company for 3.7 million reais (approximately $700,000) to protect it from hacker attacks.
The company was contracted to provide an extended cybersecurity incident detection and response solution, as well as next-generation threat monitoring, prevention, detection, and response services.
In September, the Supreme Court of Justice, the Federal Police, and the National Telecommunications Agency reported hacker attacks during the blockade of the social media platform X, ordered by Justice Alexandre de Moraes on August 30.
In 2022, the court identified and contained a total of 2,434,627 attacks on the court’s technological environment.
Most of these attacks came close to achieving their objective and were defined as critical by the Supreme Federal Court information security teams. The internal body responsible for cybersecurity managed to contain all threats.
