The decision, adopted during the committee’s 47th session in Paris, cited Israeli practices that threaten cultural heritage and disrupt the city’s historic status quo.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Sufyan Qudah stated that Israel’s actions aimed at changing the Arab, Islamic and Christian identity of occupied Jerusalem are null and void under international law.
He called on Israel, as the occupying power, to cease violations against Jerusalem’s holy sites, which he said undermine efforts to achieve a two-state solution and lasting regional peace.
Qudah said the decision reaffirms previous Unesco resolutions, which criticized Israel’s inaction to stop excavations and tunneling in East Jerusalem.
The spokesman stressed the urgent need to implement a reactive monitoring mission in the Old City and its walls.
