“We believe that, in a context in which more than 30,000 restrictive measures have been adopted against Russia, the hypothetical emergence of some new element will, of course, require additional analysis and consideration, but it will not fundamentally change the outlook,” the diplomat stated at a press conference.
The Deputy Foreign Minister explained that in recent years, the government of the Eurasian giant has created effective tools that largely allow certain needs to be met through import substitution, so “the growth of many of our industries is precisely due to this,” Ryabkov explained.
On the other hand, he stated that the administration of US President Donald Trump is very contradictory in its actions and statements, which is why it does not facilitate the work of normalizing bilateral relations.
To confirm US president’s rhetoric, in late June, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, author of the bill seeking to apply crushing measures against Russia, as well as tariffs on countries that purchase its key natural resources, declared that Trump intends to impose new restrictive measures against Moscow.
The legislative initiative calls for imposing 500 percent tariffs on the Russian Federation’s trading partners that do not assist Ukraine and on goods exported to the United States from countries that purchase Russian oil, petroleum products, natural gas, and uranium.
