African Union to launch VII Mid-Year Coordination Meeting

Malabo, Jul 13 (Prensa Latina) The VII Mid-Year Coordination Meeting between the African Union (AU), Regional Economic Communities (RECs) and Regional Mechanisms (RMs) will begin today in Equatorial Guinea.

The meeting will assess the current state of continental integration and coordinate efforts to accelerate its progress through a defined division of labor and enhanced collaboration between the AU, RECs, RMs and member states.

Conceived in 2017, it is considered the main forum for the continental organization and its different structures to harmonize the work and implementation of the unity agenda in Africa, replacing the June/July summits.

The agenda includes identifying areas of cooperation and establishing mechanisms for regional, continental and global collaboration in each sector or sub-sector, as well as reviewing and assessing the status of implementation of decisions and legal instruments relating to the AU’s relations with RECs and RMs.

Prior to the meeting, the 47th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union was held in this capital on July 10 and 11, under the theme of the year 2025 “Justice for Africans and people of African descent through reparations”.
