SKL blames the economic elite for never acting in the interest of the Haitian nation and accuses them of actively contributing to the widespread instability plaguing society.
They — referring to the businessmen — finance armed groups, the circulation of weapons in working-class neighborhoods, and the promotion of a climate of terror.
The private sector is part of the dynamic of destruction that is plunging the country into a bottomless abyss.
The group rejects the idea of allowing the country to be governed by this segment, the SKL statement released by the newspaper Le National emphasizes.
“What the Haitian private sector is preparing through its seizure of power at the head of the Presidential Transitional Council is nothing more than a political robbery, a forced step aimed at transforming its economic hegemony into total political domination,” the text emphasizes.
The organization argued that allowing the private sector to preside over the CPT gives those who exploit the country the keys to the state to protect themselves, legitimize themselves, and continue causing harm with impunity.
Allowing the private sector to lead the Presidential Transitional Council risks turning the upcoming elections into a farce controlled by money and fear.
The business community’s approach to the government is aimed at gaining political power to negotiate directly with armed gangs, not for the general interest.
If they succeed in leading the Presidential Transitional Council, they will neutralize any investigation, accusation, or truth that could expose them, the SKL statement emphasizes.
