As part of his agenda, the president visited the Conrado Pina unit of Poligom Rubber Company, located in the municipality of Cotorro, the Presidency reported.
The factory that is specialized in rubber products for industrial spare parts that serve strategic sectors such as the sugar and dairy industries, has participated in critical repairs such as those carried out at Antonio Guiteras Thermoelectric Plant, the one with the largest generating capacity in the country.
The director of that industry explained to the presidential delegation, which also included Livan Izquierdo, First Secretary of the Communist Party in Havana, and Governor Yanet Hernandez, that the efforts of the 145 workers allow for alternative production, including cleaning supplies.
These household goods are sold in a community store that benefits the population and generates additional income, in line with the “neighborhood-linked industry” policy, the source stated.
The Head of State’s visit begins the second cycle of visits to Cuban capital city, which is part of the government’s agenda to learn about successful experiences for local development, as well as the subjective problems that hinder this goal.
Cuba faces significant economic challenges, primarily due to the intensification of the US blockade with the maximum pressure policy promoted by the Donald Trump administration, which targets the island’s financial activities and its access to international trade.
