The accusation was filed at federal court by Gustavo Vera, president of the “La Alameda” Foundation, following a video that went viral on social media showing the minister offering his services, efforts, and contacts to former CIA agent Tim Ballard to clean up his image in Argentina.
Cuneo Libarona even traveled to the United States to meet with Ballard, to whom Security Minister Patricia Bullrich denied him entry to the country.
In April, he argued that the former agent “has 23 cases of abuse, was expelled from all anti-trafficking organizations he had been a part of,” and tried to meet with President Javier Milei, but she prevented it.
Vera’s complaint against Cuneo Libarona points to the minister’s behavior in the said video, in which he offers Ballard his intermediation to “clean up his image” and proposes introducing him to judges, legislators, and journalists, and even arranged forums for him at universities.
Lawmaker Monica Fein affirmed that Cuneo Libarona is unfit to be the justice minister, and asked President Milei to ask for his resignation so as not to be involved in this national disgrace we have all witnessed.
