In a statement released on its official platforms, the entity specified that the attack took place last Friday while the convoy was doing assistance work in the southern region, and added that several vehicles were damaged.

The institution recalled that it is a neutral organization dedicated to serving those most in need and stressed the need to ensure the safety of its staff in order to be able to carry out their missions.

In recent weeks, the southern governorate of Sweida faced a worsening humanitarian situation following clashes between local armed factions and tribal members, which escalated with government intervention and Israeli bombing.

The violence resulted in shortages of food and fuel, as well as deteriorating medical care due to damage to the Provincial Hospital and inability to replenish supplies.

After the partial return of calm, the Syrian government, in coordination with the Red Crescent and international and local agencies, sent convoys of flour, food, medicine and fuel to meet the needs of essential services in Sweida.
