According to MSF, about 40 cholera-related deaths were reported in the Sudanese region of Darfur, in a country already devastated by war.
The organization also described this outbreak as the worst suffered by the country in recent years, and in Darfur alone, about 2,300 patients have already been treated in the last week.
It also points out that since July of last year there have been more than 100,000 cases and 2, 470 deaths.
The disease is spread through food and water contaminated with bacteria, often from fecal matter.
It causes severe diarrhea, vomiting and muscle cramps.
It can be fatal in a few hours if left untreated, but can be cured with timely oral rehydration accompanied by the use of antibiotics.
MSF warned that if the situation is not controlled, it can become catastrophic and existing health facilities exceed the number of cases.
