Magadan is located about 3,000 kilometers from Anchorage, and the flight time between the cities is estimated at four hours.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov revealed that in Magadan, Putin will visit industrial production facilities and meet with the region’s governor, Sergei Nosov.
“It will be a comprehensive regional trip. Naturally, on the way in this direction, given the geography of our country, the president never misses the opportunity to discuss regional issues, and this time he will do the same,” Peskov stated, adding that the Russian president will then depart for Alaska.
The Putin-Trump summit is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. Moscow time this Friday, August 15, at the Elmendorf-Richardson military base in Anchorage. It will be their first in-person meeting since the Republican tycoon returned to the White House in January.
