Bolivian Elections Proceed Normally

La Paz, Aug 17 (Prensa Latina) On a cold morning, Bolivia began its electoral process with the opening of polling stations early in the morning, where 7.9 million voters will elect the new executive and legislative authorities.

Polling stations across the country were opened under strict security protocols and in the presence of electoral juries, notaries, delegates from political organizations, and observers from 19 international organizations.

“Today the Bolivian people exercise their democratic right to vote, in a day that should be characterized by tranquility, transparency, and civic commitment,” stated the president of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal, Oscar Hassenteufel, in his inaugural address, delivered at the headquarters of that state entity.

Sources from the Electoral Body assured that the day began without major incidents and highlighted the broad citizen participation recorded from the outset.

At the largest polling station in La Paz city, located at Justino Aspiazu school, this news agency confirmed the positive turnout of voters.

The prevailing tranquility and the large presence of international observers were highlighted, including the ambassadors of Argentina, Brazil, Egypt, Mexico, Venezuela, and diplomatic representatives of Panama, among others.

According to the Supreme Electoral Tribunal, 7.9 million citizens are participating in the vote, the result of which will define the country’s political direction for the coming years, with the election of 177 officials in the executive and legislative branches for the 2025-2030 term.

In the case of the Government, the vote will be for the president and one vice president of the Plurinational State, and in the Legislature, 36 senators, 130 national deputies (with their corresponding alternates), and nine supranational representatives will be elected.
