According to the Undersecretary of State, conditions on the front lines in the provinces of Preah Vihear, Oddar Meanchey, and Banteay Meanchey remain calm and stable.
Furthermore, in her regular morning press conference, Socheata reiterated her country’s call for Thailand to return the 18 soldiers illegally arrested on the morning of July 29, after the ceasefire agreed upon the day before in Malaysia went into effect.
The spokesperson for the ministry announced the day before that two more extraordinary meetings of the Regional Border Committee (RBC) will be held this week.
One of these meetings will be co-chaired by Cambodia’s Military Region 4 and Thailand’s Military Region 2, and the other will bring together Cambodia’s Military Region 5 and Thailand’s Military Region 1, she explained without specifying the exact dates or locations of the meetings.
Solcheata stated that the Cambodian parties convened preparatory meetings to ensure that the RBC sessions “run smoothly, constructively, and with positive results.”
The upcoming RBC meetings, according to the AKP news agency, are based on the spirit and agreements reached at the Extraordinary Meeting of the General Boundary Committee (GFC) between Cambodia and Thailand, held on August 7 in Kuala Lumpur.
