Ulyanov wrote on his Telegram channel, “The West is actively discussing the possibility of deploying foreign troops to Ukraine. Moscow has made it clear that the deployment of foreign military contingents in Ukraine is completely ruled out. It is time to end such discussions.”
The diplomat added that those promoting this idea “seem to be trying to undermine diplomatic efforts and make a peaceful settlement impossible.”
In an interview with Fox News a few hours earlier, US President Donald Trump said that as long as he remains at the helm of his administration, there will be no US troops in Ukraine.
At the same time, the Office of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that the leaders of the so-called “coalition of the willing” countries discussed during a video conference the preparations for sending troops to Ukraine in case the hostilities cease.
On August 18, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova affirmed that Moscow does not accept any deployment of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) troops in Ukraine that could lead to an uncontrolled escalation of the conflict.
