Although the assessment is still preliminary, at least 410,000 hectares have been devastated by fire, mainly in the autonomous communities of Galicia, Castilla y León, and Extremadura.
Around 20 fires are still active, although almost all are under control or neutralized. In response, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) warned that a “very high or extreme” risk of fires prevails in large areas of the north and east of the peninsula.
In a message on the social network X, Aemet indicated that there is a DANA located in southwestern Spain, with uncertainty about its trajectory, with forecasts of showers and/or locally strong storms in the Pyrenees and possibly also in other parts of the eastern region.
Although there is a general drop in temperatures, in areas of Andalusia and Extremadura, temperatures may still be high.
This Tuesday, the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sanchez, will resume the Council of Ministers, which will declare the territories that have suffered forest fires affected by a civil protection emergency.
Likewise, an Interministerial Commission will be established “to define the State Pact against the Climate Emergency that our country needs.”
