“I had the pleasure of attending the opening of the Colombian Embassy in Ethiopia. We welcome Vice President Francia Marquez’s commitment to strengthening the relationship between Colombia and Ethiopia,” Timothewos wrote on his X profile.
Marquez arrived in this capital on Monday, the first stop on an official tour of Africa that includes Mozambique, Madagascar, and Nigeria, leading a delegation composed of officials from the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry of Commerce, Agriculture, Environment, as well as the Colombian Agricultural Institute.
Also included are officials from the Presidential Agency for Cooperation, the Civil Aeronautics, and the Free and Productive Women’s Fund, among other institutions.
This is the third official visit of the current Colombian government to the African continent, aimed at strengthening and expanding diplomatic, economic, educational, political, cultural, and cooperation relations, official sources stated.
Marquez held talks on Tuesday with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Claver Gatete, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, on bilateral and cooperation issues.
