According to the latest report on foreign trade for the second quarter of the year, presented by the Central Bank of Nicaragua (BCN), this increase is mainly driven by merchandise.
Merchandise exports represented 62.3 percent of the total (1,475.1 million dollars), with an inter-annual increase of 29.6 percent, with the agricultural, mining and fishing sectors standing out.
The financial entity specified that the free trade zones contributed 891.7 million (37.7 percent), with advances in textiles (+3.8) fruits and vegetables (+36.2 percent), although products such as tobacco and manufactured fish fell back.
The entity added that, in the accumulated figures to June, exports totaled 4,441.1 billion dollars, led by the agricultural sector with a 48.7% growth, benefited by the high prices of coffee and livestock.
