The political space is located in the garage of activist Karuba Khoulmanian, who said it was a neighborly initiative aimed at uniting “new supporters” for the leftist alliance now in power.
The inauguration of this political space was attended by former Vice President and Mujica’s widow, Lucia Topolansky, as well as by the president of the Broad Front, Fernando Pereira, among other leaders of the group.
“Don’t abandon your activism” because “there always has to be new people,” urged Topolansky, who said that this is “the best sign any political group can have, and it is the best tribute to everyone.”
A few days ago, she announced that the Popular Participation Movement (MPP), founded and led by the iconic leftist political leader, is planning to create a permanent memorial to Mujica’s legacy.
It will be held at the headquarters of the MPP (which is part of the FA), next October, to commemorate Heritage Day. Notebooks in which the former president wrote some of his speeches in his own hand will be on display.
Also on display will be his bicycle and the Volkswagen Beetle he used, which became a symbol of his austere life.
In addition, some 56 books signed by thousands of people during his funeral, “plus all those who were at the embassies,” said Topolansky.
