The Elabe survey for La Tribune Dimanche and BFM TV noted that if a return to the polls were to take place to elect 577 lawmakers in the lower house, the political force led by Marine Le Pen would achieve up to 31.5 percent popular support.
Aware of their lead in the polls, Le Pen and party president Jordan Bardella are calling on President Emmanuel Macron to dissolve the National Assembly, amid a context in which the fall of Prime Minister Francois Bayrou seems inevitable.
The opposition has already announced that it will not grant him the vote of confidence in the September 8 parliamentary session.
Despite its nationalist stances and the criticism it receives from some sectors of society for discrimination, the RN has positioned itself as the party with the greatest support, calling itself the bearer of public discontent over issues such as the loss of purchasing power and illegal immigration.
In June 2024, Macron dissolved the Assembly following the ruling party’s setback in the European elections, almost under control by the far right, and only an unnatural alliance of the diverse political forces prevented the RN from gaining control of the chamber.
The move prevented Le Pen’s supporters from winning, but did not ensure they remained the organization with the most seats in the Bourbon Palace, with 120 lawmakers, ahead of the Together for the Republic group (79) and the La France Insoumise (LFI) party (70).
