The award commends the country’s ability to offer alternative tourism, which focuses on its cultural richness, respect for nature, and experiences designed from the local identity.
With varied landscapes, the article added, this Central American nation offers unique settings that make it a privileged location.
In adition to this, there are destinations such as Antigua Guatemala, declared a World Heritage Site and on National Geographic’s list of the 25 must-see sites for this year.
Likewise, Lake Atitlan, Izabal, Huehuetenango, and Las Verapaces enrich the tourism offering, Withbeck told the Mexican magazine Glits.
Guatemala is also projecting itself as a sustainable luxury destination, with eco-friendly lodging options that reinforce a sense of local identity, the report noted.
This model aims to provide visitors with different adventures while simultaneously generating a positive impact on the host communities.
