Russian air defense downs 105 Ukrainian drones

Moscow, Sep 3 (Prensa Latina) The operational air defense systems shot down 105 Ukrainian attack drones that targeted the country's several southwestern regions, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Wednesday.

The military institution announced on its official Telegram channel that 25 unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed over Rostov Province, 24 over Bryansk, 20 over Krasnodar, 10 over Kaluga, and one over Smolensk.

The Defense Ministry added that 15 drones were also shot down over the Black Sea and two over the Sea of Azov, as well as eight over the Peninsula of Crimea.

The national air transport agency, Rosaviatsia, previously informed that temporary flight restrictions have been imposed at the Kaluga and Volgograd airports in the last day to ensure passenger safety.

Russia has been conducting a special military operation in Ukraine since February 24, 2022, to protect the population from “the Kyiv government’s genocide” and counter national security risks, according to President Vladimir Putin.

Drone attacks launched from Ukraine on military and civilian targets in the Russian rear have since become routine.

In recent months, Ukraine has launched several drone attacks on oil refineries and fuel depots in Russia, mainly in border provinces, but also in more remote areas such as Nizhny Novgorod, Bashkortostan, or Tatarstan.
