Following the agenda, during his stay the president will hold a meeting with his Japanese counterpart, Shigeru Ishiba, with whom he will address key issues to enhance cooperation between both countries.
This is Petro’s first official visit to Japan and is considered a strategic step on the Colombian government’s international agenda.
As confirmed by the Presidency of the South American country through social network X, the main objective of the meeting of leaders will be to open new opportunities, at a time when Colombia is trying to diversify domestic exports and attract direct foreign investment.
After the meeting in Tokyo, Petro will move to Osaka, where on Saturday he will participate in the Expo 2025, held in that city until October 13.
There he will visit the pavilions of Japan, Colombia, Saudi Arabia and China, in a space that brings together nations from all over the world to show advances in technology, culture and sustainable development.
As part of the Osaka Expo activities, Petro will also attend the “Colombia Tree Ceremony” in the Forest of Civilizations, and visit the City of the Future pavilion.
