“The West’s actions toward nations that want to pursue their policies are absolutely unacceptable; pressure is being openly exerted on Venezuela on all fronts,” Zakharova stated during a press briefing on Thursday.
The Russian diplomat added that the current escalation of tensions surrounding Venezuela poses a danger to regional and global security.
On August 7, US Attorney General Pamela Bondi announced a 50-million-dollar reward for information leading to the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, whom Washington accuses of leading the Cartel of the Suns.
This move was soon followed by the deployment of several US naval assets in the Caribbean, under the pretext of countering cartel activity in the region.
In response, Maduro ordered the mobilization of the Bolivarian Militias to guarantee the country’s defense.
