The Russian foreign minister said in an interview to TASS news agency that these figures refer to purchasing power parity terms.
“After the start of the special military operation, Russia was predicted to collapse its economy, become totally isolated, and turn the country and its leaders into pariahs, but statistics from Western banks, including the World Bank, point out that, in terms of purchasing power parity, it is the fourth-largest economy after the United States, China, and India,” he added.
And by the same criteria, it is the largest economy in Europe, Lavrov pointed out.
The foreign minister stressed that the “spells” about isolating Russia don’t work, and that the measures taken by the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the BRICS group “have clearly shown that all this nonsense was invented so that some Western countries could wave their flags in public.”
